HL Deb 08 February 1990 vol 515 cc1022-4WA
Lord McIntosh of Haringey

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that the new Spitalfields Market, as proposed by the City of London (Spitalfields Market) Act 1989, will satisfy new European Community rules on food safety concerned with contamination from petrol and diesel fumes.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

I am not aware of any proposals from the EC Commission which would introduce new rules concerned with contamination from petrol and diesel fumes which might apply to horticultural markets.
