To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the quality and safety of cat and dog food supplies.

The safety and quality of pet food are protected by the detailed provisions of the Agriculture Act 1970 and the Feedingstuffs Regulations 1988. Manufacturers' performance in meeting these provisions is closely monitored by local trading standards officers.
