HC Deb 07 February 1990 vol 166 c628W
Sir Michael McNair-Wilson

To ask the Prime Minister what steps are required to be taken by the Governments of the United States of America, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, France and the United Kingdom in drawing up a peace treaty with Germany in the event of reunification; and if she will list the treaty or other provisions governing the changes which may take place in the status of the Federal and Democratic Republics of Germany in advance of a peace treaty.

The Prime Minister

A number of agreements and treaties would need to be amended or abolished in the event of unification of the two German states. The precise details would need to be discussed with our partners and allies.
