HC Deb 06 February 1990 vol 166 c604W
Dr. Michael Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many service men died in training during the last year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

In 1988, the last year for which figures are available, the deaths of 14 service personnel were recorded as being attributable to injuries sustained during exercises or training. This figure excludes the Gurkhas and members of the Ulster Defence Regiment and the reserve forces.
