§ Mr. Simon HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is his estimate of the number of loans that will have been made to students under the Education (Student Loans) Bill by(a) October 1990, (b) November 1990 and (c) December 1990.
Mr. JacksonOn the basis of a take-up rate of 80 per cent., some 455,000 students are likely to receive top-up loans in the 1990–91 academic year. Students will be able to apply at any time in the year; many will no doubt do so in the first few months.
