§ Mr. AtkinsRegulations were made last year that will apply to new diesel-engined vehicles from 1 October 1990. They will introduce European Community limits on gaseous emissions, including hydrocarbons. The European Commission is expected to propose much tighter gaseous emission standards for lorries and buses later this year, and to propose limits on particulates. We are pressing the Commission to make its long-overdue proposals as soon as possible.
