§ Mr. FlynnTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what European quality standards apply to the production of meat and bone meal.
§ Mr. MacleanStandards for meat and bone meal are laid down in EC directives which are enacted in the United Kingdom by the Feedingstuffs Regulations 1988. These require that the product should be substantially free of hair, bristle, feathers, horn, hoof, skin and blood and of the contents of stomach and viscera; and technically free of organic solvents.
