To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what training is given in management skills within the Civil Service.

§ Mr. Luce
Civil servants are trained in the full range of management skills they need to exercise in their work, including the management of people, finance and other resources. In 1988–89, some 82,600 civil servants undertook management training. Of this, 81 per cent. was provided directly by Departments, 7 per cent. was undertaken at the Civil Service college, and the remainder was provided externally.
