To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has received any representations proposing the re-opening of railway stations and lines in Wales.

Mr. Portillo

My right hon. Friend has received a number of such representations. The opening or re-opening of stations or railway lines to passenger services is for the British Railways Board to decide, in the light of the objectives set for it by the Government.
