To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what amount of grant has been given to the Nottinghamshire police authority in each year since 1979.

1 The rate of police grant was increased from 50 per cent. to 51per cent. from 1986–87.

2 In addition to the above payments, Nottinghamshire police authority has received £23,840,404 in special grant arising from additional expenditure incurred in policing the coal strike; the bulk of this was paid in 1984–85.
