§ Mr. WaldegraveWe already apply stringent licensing controls to all proposed arms exports; the sale of equipment judged likely to be used for internal repression, for example, would not be allowed. We are now taking part in the United Nations study group promoting transparency in international transfers of conventional arms, which had its first meeting in New York on 22 to 26 January.
