§ Mr. Atkinson
To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will introduce a statutory duty on British Telecom to notify and consult the local authority when it intends to replace red telephone boxes in conservation areas; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Forth
Such a duty already exists under the terms of the Town and Country Planning General Development Order 1988 (SI No. 1813).
