HC Deb 20 December 1990 vol 183 c339W
Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he will consider increasing HIV-AIDS funding to regional health authorities to cover the cost of high-purity factor VIII for haemophiliacs.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

There are no plans to increase HIV-AIDS funding to the regional health authorities to take account of the prescribing of high purity factor VIII for haemophiliacs.

The haemophilia treatment centres are funded by the appropriate health authority for the treatment of haemophiliacs and high purity factor VIII is one type of treatment which clinicians may prescribe.
