§ Mr. CarringtonTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement about the Government's financial assistance to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to facilitate its location in London.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Government will contribute up to £40 million for the first three years rent and refurbishment costs of the bank's chosen headquarters. The Government propose to execute a lease on a temporary headquarters 53W building for the bank and to contribute rent for an agreed period, and refurbishment of the building, from within the £40 million available. I have today laid before the House a minute informing the House of the details. Copies of the minute have been placed in the Library of the House.
