§ Sir George YoungThe Government see housing associations as the main providers of additional subsidised housing where it is needed. Public funding for the Housing Corporation will increase from £1.1 billion this year to over £2 billion by 1993–94. Together with their increased ability to draw in private funds, this will permit a sustained increase in output of low-cost housing by associations over the next few years.
