§ Mr. CurryNo formal USSR request for food aid has yet been received by the Government. As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs indicated at the Foreign Affairs Council on 4 December, the Government are ready to participate fully in any Community response to real shortages in the USSR to ensure food aid reaches those genuinely in need.
