§ Mr. Michael ForsythA total of 1,634 students in receipt of a maintenance grant under the students' allowances scheme withdrew from their courses during academic session 1989–90. The maintenance grant payments made to them amounted to £1,778,885, which represents 2.03 per cent. of all maintenance payments made in respect of that academic session.
