§ Mr. Simon HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give details of the staff losses expected at the Institute of Food Research attributable to the withdrawal of Government funding from those projects designated as near market.
§ Mr. Alan HowarthA total of 19 posts will be lost by the end of the financial year 1990–91, as a result of the withdrawal of Government funding for "near market" research in 1991–92.
In addition, a further 24 posts will be lost during the same period, because of the realignment of existing Government commissions.
