HC Deb 04 December 1990 vol 182 c69W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what initiatives he proposes to enhance training in rural Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Wyn Roberts

The new training and enterprise councils are locally based and run by local employers in partnership with the local community; this will ensure that the needs of a rural economy are catered for effectively. A new all-Wales Agricultural Training Board has been established, with a headquarters at Builth Wells, to meet the training needs of the industry. It will work closely with the TECs and in due course, after the necessary primary legislation, it will be able to extend its remit beyond the strict confines of the agricultural industry.
