§ Mr. David ShawTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the progress made since January in implementing the decisions to improve the A20 road between Folkestone and Dover.
§ Mr. ChopeConstruction of part of the new A20 between Folkestone and Court wood started in October. Design is continuing on the remaining part.
The compulsory purchase order for the section between Court wood and Dover was made in July. Land acquisition and rehousing of Dover district council's tenants affected by the scheme are under way.
We are on programme for completion of the whole length from Folkestone to Dover by the planned opening of the channel tunnel in mid-1993.
