To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what percentage of applications for places in each university college in Wales were made by prospective students from Wales in each of the past 10 years.

[holding answer 25 April 1990]: Applications to United Kingdom universities for admissions to full-time undergraduate courses are dealt with by the Universities Central Council on Admissions.

Information about the candidature at individual universities, or constituent colleges of individual universities, is not released by the Universities Central Council on Admissions without prior authorisation of the institution (or its constituent colleges).

The table, prepared from data provided by the Universities Central Council on Admissions, shows the percentage of applications from United Kingdom candidates to the University of Wales as a whole made by individuals recorded as being of Welsh domicile.
