§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThe unleaded petrol campaign has been a great success. In the 12 months from January last year the market share of this fuel increased from 2 per cent. to 29 per cent. and is now over 30 per cent. We expect that the increased differential in duty between unleaded and leaded petrol, introduced in the recent Budget announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer, will increase the rate of take-up of unleaded petrol.
