§ Mr. TrippierThe ozone layer can be protectd only by international action. The Montreal protocol is due for revision in June. We are pressing for rapid cuts in the supply of CFCs, halons and carbon tetrachloride, with their elimination by the year 2000. Methyl chloroform must also be cut substantially. If the revised protocol is not strong enough, we will press for further restrictions within the European Community.
