HC Deb 18 April 1990 vol 170 c897W
Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has as to how many members of police forces have been dismissed or required to resign for racially discriminatory behaviour since the introduction of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Statistics are not collected about the use in disciplinary proceedings of specific items in the police discipline code. It is not therefore possible to say how many officers have been found guilty of racially discriminatory behaviour, or how they were punished. Such information could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
