Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how many children are registered with the Eastern health and social services board who have cerebral palsy in the age groups(a) under five years, (b) five to 16 years, (c) 16 to 24 years and (d) 24 years and over;

(2) how many children are registered with the Southern health and social services board who have cerebral palsy in the age groups (a) under five years, (b) five to 16 years, (c) 16 to 24 years and (d) 24 years and over.

Mr. Needham

[holding answer 5 April 1990]: There is no requirement upon the health and social services boards to maintain registers of people suffering from cerebral palsy. Although various professional officers and departments hold relevant information, these records can be collated only at disproportionate cost.
