HC Deb 18 April 1990 vol 170 c926W
Mrs. Margaret Ewing

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the maximum hourly rate of remuneration that has been accepted as reasonable by the accountant in bankruptcy, in terms of section 53(4) of the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Act 1985, being work reasonably undertaken by the trustee in sequestration.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The maximum hourly rate allowed by the accountant in bankruptcy other than in exceptional circumstances in assessing claims for the remuneration of trustees and their staff is the same as that published by the Law Society of Scotland in respect of charges by the legal profession for similar work. The present Law Society rate is £62.
