Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest level of unemployment for(a) England and (b) Cornwall.

Mr. Nicholls

In February 1990 the unadjusted number of unemployed claimants was 1,272,230 in England and 14,678 in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.

Mr. Clelland

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what changes he intends to make to the compilation and publication of labour market statistics and other information following the introduction of training and enterprise councils.
