§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyAt the end of 1989, the latest date for which figures are available, the number of people in Northern region who had been reported to the communicable disease surveillance centre as being HIV positive as a result of contaminated blood transfusions was greater than zero but less than 10. In line with the procedure followed in reports under the AIDS (Control) Act, to safeguard confidentiality, the actual figures in this range are not published.
