§ The Prime MinisterThe corruption, bribery and attempted bribery of Members of Parliament acting in their parliamentary capacities would be a contempt and would be a matter for the Committee of Privileges to deal with. We would consider bringing forward legislation to make the corruption or attempted corruption of hon. Members a criminal offence only if there was clear evidence that the present arrangements were ineffective and the House agreed.
