HL Deb 02 April 1990 vol 517 c1246WA
The Duke of Abercorn

asked Her Majesty's Government:

On what occasions the Forestry Commission failed to reach agreement with landowners in regard to the sale of standing timber on land leased to the Forestry Commission.

The Minister of State, Scottish Office (Lord Sanderson of Bowden)

The Forestry Commission has failed to reach agreement in such cases on those occasions when the landowner has not been prepared to offer a sum which achieves its reserve price, as calculated in accordance with paragraph 22 (e) of the Statement of Disposals Policy and Practice published at Appendix VI to the Commission's 1984–85 Annual Report. A copy of that report is in the Library of the House.

No central record is kept of such cases and a list could be prepared only at disproportionate cost.
