§ Mr. ChurchillTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will immediately take steps to ensure that in future 0898 telephone services shall be provided only to Government, commercial and private subscribers following an opt-in decision by the subscriber, communicated to the telephone company in writing.
§ Mr. Forth[holding answer 30 March 1990]: This is a matter for the Director General of Telecommunications, who has already taken firm action to control certain of these so-called premium rate services. He is keeping the matter under close review.
