HL Deb 31 October 1989 vol 512 c235WA
The Marquess of Ailesbury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list those countries which have maintained diplomatic representation in Kabul.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

Since Her Majesty's Embassy in Kabul is temporarily closed and since we have no substantive dealings with the Kabul regime, we cannot provide the detailed information requested. Turkey is the only NATO member still currently represented in Kabul. The Soviet Union, Pakistan and India are among other countries maintaining missions there, along with some Eastern European and Islamic countries.
