§ 76. Mr. BeithTo ask the Minister for the Civil Service which reports of the Treasury and Civil Service Select Committee, relating to the Civil Service, have been the subject of a Government response during the current session; and what further responses to such reports he expects will be published in the near future.
§ Mr. LuceThe Government have made one such reply relating to the "Next Steps" initiative, published today (Cm. 841). The reply reports good progress in implementing "Next Steps". A total of ten agencies have been established and some 40 further activities have been announced by Departments as candidates for agency status, with more to come. I am grateful to the Treasury and Civil Service Select Committee for the positive and helpful interest which it has taken in this most important initiative.
