HC Deb 30 October 1989 vol 159 cc6-7W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Attorney-General, further to his answer to the hon. Member for Sunderland, South, of 3 July,Official Report, column 14, what action he has now taken with regard to the Today newspaper for its front page story on 11 May headed, "Maggie IRA Bomb Squad Seized", concerning the arrest of three Irishmen who were later released without charge.

The Attorney-General

I have considered the matter, but have concluded that there is no realistic prospect that any prosecution would result in a conviction. Accordingly, I do not propose to take any further action.
