HC Deb 30 October 1989 vol 159 c64W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the outcome of the meeting in Paris on 25 October of the Co-ordinating Committee on Multilateral Export Controls.

Mr. Maude

The co-ordinating committee (COCOM) held its annual high level meeting in Paris on 25 and 26 October. The meeting reviewed progress in COCOM's work and reached agreement on a work programme for the coming year.

Against the background of current international and industrial developments, partners recognised the need to maintain the process of streamlining COCOM controls whilst protecting their fundamental strategic security interests. The next high level meeting will be held in 1990.
