HC Deb 26 October 1989 vol 158 c526W
Mr. Foulkes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make it his policy to consider the evidence to be given at the Civil Aviation Authority public hearing on 14 and 15 December when making his decision on Scottish lowland airports policy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. McLoughlin

My right hon. Friend's decision will be based on the responses received to the consultation document issued on 27 September, for which the closing date is Wednesday 29 November.

Mr. Foulkes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make it his policy to seek the advice of the Civil Aviation Authority in determining whether there is sufficient evidence to justify licensing additional flights to the United States of America from Scotland, in his consultation exercise on Scottish lowland airports policy.

Mr. McLoughlin

Air transport route licensing is a matter for the Civil Aviation Authority. The authority's decisions are made in accordance with its statutory duties and are subject to any traffic distribution rules that may be in force.
