To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many citizens of Hong Kong have been granted abode in the United Kingdom over the past five years for which figures are available.

The number of British dependent territory citizens from Hong Kong granted settlement in the United Kingdom in the years 1984 to 1988 is published in table 22 of the Home Office Command Paper "Control of Immigration: Statistics; United Kingdom 1988" (Cm. 726), a copy of which is in the Library.
