§ Mr. WaldegraveThe situation remains disturbed with continuing internal conflicts and reports of violations of human rights. There have, however, been some positive developments including the initiation of negotiations between the Ethiopian Government and the Eritrean People's Liberation Front, and the release of a number of political prisoners in Ethiopia and Somalia.
