§ 31. Mr. John HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions he has had with the Government of Chile concerning the conditions under which the plebiscite will be held later this year.
§ Mr. SainsburyPlebiscites have been held in Chile most recently on 5 October 1988 and 30 July 1989. Both were conducted in exemplary fashion. There are no plans for any further plebiscites this year.
§ 40. Mr. FoulkesTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to encourage the transition to democracy in Chile.
