To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list by local education authority the number of overseas teachers who have taken up posts since the beginning of the current school year and the countries from which they come.

During the month of September, 323 teachers trained outside the United Kingdom have been considered for qualified teacher status by the Department. Of these, 153 have been accorded status. The country in which their qualifications were obtained are as follows:
