To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many volunteer reserves operate in Scotland; and what proportion of the total numbers that represents.

As at 1 April 1989, the total strength of the volunteer reserves operating in Scotland was 9,606, representing 11.8 per cent. of the overall total.
