HC Deb 23 October 1989 vol 158 cc316-7W
Mr. Mudd

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he is proposing any change to the boundary of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly health district; and if under the terms of the White Paper "Working for Patients" he identifies the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly health authority as the sole body responsible for identifying the health care needs of all the residents of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and for seeking to procure services to meet those needs.

Mr. Mellor

[holding answer 19 October 1989]: There are no plans to change the boundaries of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly health authority district. The answer to the second part of the question is yes, though large GP practices will be able to seek their own budgets which will cover a defined range of hospital treatments.
