§ 194. Mr. YeoTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will make a statement on the implementation of the reform of national insurance.
§ Mr. ScottThe changes in the structure of national insurance contributions, announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Budget Statement, came into effect on Thursday 5 October 1989. Some 19 million employees will pay less in contributions as a result of these reforms. We have no current plans for further reform of the contributions system.
