HC Deb 19 October 1989 vol 158 c179W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what further steps he intends to take to reduce air pollution in London arising from transport.

Mr. Atkins

The Department is considering a wide range of measures to reduce traffic congestion in London. As well as increasing the efficiency of the transport system, lower congestion should also help to reduce the emission of certain types of pollutant. The Government are also committed to strict standards of vehicle emissions due to be introduced in the 1990s
