HC Deb 17 October 1989 vol 158 c74W
Mr. Sillars

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will introduce legislation to extend judicial review capacity to sheriff courts.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

My noble and learned Friend the Lord Advocate regards it as entirely appropriate that, as part of the supervisory jurisdiction of the Court of Session, judicial review is carried out only by certain nominated judges of that court. He has no proposals to introduce legislation to provide for judicial review by sheriffs.
