HC Deb 17 October 1989 vol 158 c22W
Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans there are to implement the recommendation of the Roskill inquiry that fraud cases should no longer be tried before a jury.

Mr. John Patten

We want to give the reforms introduced by the Criminal Justice Acts 1987 and 1988, which were designed to make the jury's task easier, a chance to prove their worth before we consider the recommendation further.
