To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what recent representations he has received(a) supporting and (b) opposing legislation to require parents to be responsible for the actions of their children; and if he will make a statement.

Since March this year we have received 111 letters in favour of strengthening the legal responsibilities of parents for their children's behaviour and 13 against. In the light of the comments we have received, we are considering what changes to propose.
