§ Mr. CranTo ask the Minister for the Arts what steps his Department has taken to ensure the effective promotion of 1989 as Museums Year.
§ Mr. LuceMuseums Year is the initiative of the Museums Association in its centenary year. I strongly support this celebration of our museums and was pleased to join the Museums Association at its centenary conference held in York in September. I am delighted that., in the course of this year, my Department, the Museums and Galleries Commission, and the Museums Association. are working together on a number of initiatives including, the creation and development of the Museums Training Institute.
