Lord Killearn

asked the Leader of the House:

  1. (a) what were the dates of the Christmas Recess in the 1987–88 Session;
  2. (b) how many parliamentary papers were laid during that Recess;
  3. (c) how may items of delegated legislation were listed in the Minutes of Proceedings the day the House resumed; and
  4. (d) whether the Foreign Compensation (People's Republic of China) Order 1987(1987/2201) was included in that list.

The Lord Privy Seal (Lord Belstead)

(a) The dates of the Christmas Recess in the 1987–88 Session were (for the House of Lords) Thursday 17th December to Monday, 11th January 1988 (the House of Commons rose on Friday 18th December and returned on 11th January);

(b) Six Command Papers and 28 Statutory Instruments were laid during that Recess.

(c) Thirty-eight items of delegated legislation were listed in the Minutes of Proceedings the day the House resumed (consisting of the 28 laid during the Recess and 10 which were laid on the first day back); and

(d) The Foreign Compensation (People's Republic of China) Order 1987 (1987/2201) was included in that list.
