To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the Silberston report on the multi-fibre arrangement.

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Roxburgh and Berwickshire (Mr. Kirkwood) on 19 October 1989, of column176. The Government have received comments on the Silberston report from a number of organisations and these are now being considered.
